How to Build a VGA Switch

VGA cables are generally used to connect personal computers to computer monitors. In the event that you wish to transfer the signal from a single computer to multiple monitors, you can do so by creating a makeshift VGA switch out of multiple VGA splitters. As long as you have enough splitters, you can perform this procedure easily.

Things you need

  • VGA splitter (at least 3)

  1. 1

    Connect the male end of your first VGA splitter to the VGA port on the back of your computer.

  2. 2

    Connect the male end of your second VGA splitter to one of the VGA ports on your first VGA splitter.

  3. 3

    Connect the male end of your third VGA splitter to the other VGA port on your first VGA splitter. You now have four VGA ports extending from the source port.

  4. 4

    Repeat steps 2 and 3 with any additional VGA splitters you have.
