How to Find a Woman Inmate Penpal
Pen pal programs for inmates put people in prison in touch with those in the outside world. (paper image by max blain from Fotolia.com)

Many women who are spending an extended length of time in prison have the opportunity to participate in pen pal programs which put them in touch with strangers interested in communicating with them. These people are often lonely and abandoned by family because of the crimes they have committed, and greatly appreciate and benefit from the opportunity to interact with someone from the outside world.

Instructions

  1. 1

Choose an organisation through which to communicate with an inmate pen pal. There are multiple organisations of this type, most of which have websites. To view a few options, visit sites such as Write A Prisoner, Prison Inmate Pen Pal and Heal-Online.

  2. 2

Browse descriptions of inmates. Each of these sites will list, usually with a picture, a description of or a note from each inmate. You will also have the opportunity to view the details of your pen pal's incarceration if this is of interest to you in choosing a person to write to.

  3. 3

Initiate and maintain contact with your pen pal. Contact information for each inmate is listed on their profile on each website.
