The service or capping station on a Hewlett-Packard Officejet 7110 All-in-One is the location for the ink cartridges and wipers that apply ink to the print heads. It is important to keep this area clean to avoid poor print quality or ink smearing. The service station has two components: colour/black ink cartridges and caps, and two wipers.

  1. 1

Turn on the HP Officejet 7110 and lift the handle of the print-carriage access door until the door locks open. The print carriage will move to the centre of the unit and stop. Unplug the printer.

  2. 2

Clean the first wiper and the colour cartridge cap with a soft cloth or cotton swab moistened with distilled or purified water. You should clean the caps gently to avoid unseating or damaging them.

  3. 3

Clean the second wiper and the black cartridge cap with a moistened cloth or swab as above. Use a fresh cloth or cotton swab to avoid transferring ink or debris from other wiper and cap.

  4. 4

Examine the service station and clean it with a moistened cloth or cotton swab to remove any other ink or debris on the station. Wipe the service station gently with a dry cloth or cotton swab to remove moisture.

  5. 5

Plug in the HP Officejet 7110 and close the print-carriage access door. Turn the unit on.
