How to Reset a Whirlpool Dishwasher

Updated November 21, 2016

Whirlpool appliances, such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens and dishwashers, are available for purchase online or in select appliance, home retail, or department stores. Whirlpool dishwashers come in a variety of models (including under-the-counter or portable) and many are also Energy Star rated, ensuring that they are energy efficient. While most Whirlpool dishwashers function well with basic care and maintenance, problems may occasionally occur. One such issue is if an error code appears on the electronic display, another is if the dishwasher does not start. These issues may be resolved through resetting the dishwasher.

Wait for five minutes if the motor stopped itself and has been stopped for less than 10 minutes. This occurs in the event of an overload. If this is the case, the dishwasher will reset itself in approximately 5 minutes.

Turn off the dishwasher and unplug it from the power supply. Wait 10 minutes and restore power.

Select a "Hi Temp" wash cycle, followed by a heated dry setting on the dishwasher.

Repeat step 3. This will reset the dishwasher.
