Giganews is a subscription-based newsgroup provider that offers features such as spam filtering, loyalty rewards and a high retention rate for articles. To search newsgroups and download files, you can use a Usenet program. Grabit is a free Usenet browser that lets you download and view messages from newsgroups on Giganews.

    Download and install GrabIt. Open GrabIt to access its configuration wizard. Right-click "My GrabIt" and select "Add server" if you previously installed and configured the program.

    Enter "" as the "News (NNTP) server" and select the check box next to "News (NNTP) server requires a username and password." Click "Next." Enter your username and password for Giganews and click "Next." Right-click "Default server" under "My GrabIt" and select "Server properties." Change any options that you wish and click "OK."

    Select the "GrabIt Usenet Search" tab and click "Refresh group list" to get a list of Giganews news groups. Enter search terms to find GigaNews Usenet articles in the "Grabit Usenet Search" box and click "Search." Select items that you want to download and click "Grab."
