A TomTom ONE is a GPS navigation device used as a navigational aid for vehicles and pedestrians. In the event that the GPS unit becomes locked or is not properly functioning in some other way, it may be necessary to reset the TomTom ONE. Always try to first restart your TomTom ONE before resetting it to avoid losing your personal settings in the GPS unit. This can be done in several ways, each resulting in varying losses of personal and factory settings.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Turn off the GPS unit. With the GPS unit screen facing you, press the power button that is located on the top right side of the machine. This will turn off the GPS unit. Wait several seconds and press the power button again to restart the machine. This may solve the problems you are having with your TomTom ONE without losing any personal or factory settings.

  2. 2

Disconnect your TomTom ONE from the power supply. This will usually prompt the GPS unit to ask if you would like to turn the GPS off. In the event that the GPS is not working properly and not responding to the power button, disconnecting the unit from the power supply can allow you to restart the GPS without losing any of your personal or factory settings.

  3. 3

Press the "Settings" option on the menu screen and then select the "Reset factory settings" option. This will reset the GPS to the original factory settings and you will lose all of your personal settings that you have made in the GPS unit.

  4. 4

Straighten a paper clip and insert the tip into the small hole located on the bottom of the GPS unit. Push the paper clip into the small hole to reset the unit. This will revert the unit to the original factory settings and you will lose all of your personal settings that have been stored in the GPS unit.
