If you are pouring a new driveway with cement, personalise the location forever by putting your name and handprints in the wet cement. It will harden, leaving your name and handprints in the cement permanently. Leaving a clean impression is a straightforward task, so get the handprints from all members of your family into the cement.

Instructions

  1. 1

Wait until the cement has firmed up slightly. Pressing your hand in immediately leaves a blurred impression. On the other hand, waiting too long makes forming the impression more difficult.

  2. 2

Smooth the area that you want to imprint with the flat edge of a putty knife.

  3. 3

Coat the surface of your hand lightly with olive oil. This will prevent you from pulling chunks of wet cement out with your hand.

  4. 4

Lay your hand on the cement and press down. For a clear print, press straight down.

  5. 5

Remove your hand. You will leave a clear handprint behind.

  6. 6

Use a dowel to write your name near your handprint. If you make a mistake, use the putty knife to smooth it over and try again.

  7. 7

    Allow the cement to set.
