Light switch covers are probably not one of the first things you think of when you are looking to add a little decorative flair to a room, but they are an inexpensive way to do just that. Add a little shimmer to a teen's bedroom, a glamorous living room or to any playful room in your home with a glitter light switch cover. You don't need to have a lot of craft experience or expensive supplies to achieve this look.

  1. 1

Sand the light switch cover enough to remove the smooth shiny surface. Blow away any dust from the sanding.

  2. 2

Pour your container of glitter out onto a paper plate. Don't worry, you can pour the leftover glitter back in the container later.

  3. 3

Paint a generous layer of découpage medium over the front of the switch plate cover with a foam brush. Push the front of the light switch cover down into the plate of glitter. Tap the switch plate cover to remove any loose glitter and let it dry for an hour.

  4. 4

Paint over the top of the switch plate cover with more découpage medium and let it dry overnight before putting it up. Fold the paper plate in half and pour the leftover glitter back in the container.
