Poached eggs are used in a variety of recipes and meals, but getting the perfect poached egg is never an easy task. Accidentally breaking the yolk while cooking is one of the most common problems when trying to make poached eggs. An egg poacher is a cookware item that makes poaching the eggs simple and produces perfect eggs every time.

Fill the bottom of the poacher pan with water. Egg poachers come with a pan and four egg cups to cook four eggs as a time. When full, the part of the egg cups that is under water will cover to a point above the eggs.

Put the egg cups on top of the pan so the bottom of the cups are in the water and the top of the cups are open to the air.

Crack open the eggs carefully and place one egg in each cup. The poacher has four egg cups, so four eggs can cook at a time. If cooking fewer than four eggs, fill the extra cups with water. According to Egg Poacher, this will prevent damage to the egg cup.

Boil the water. Place the lid on the egg poacher and allow it to cook for two to three minutes or until the white of the egg is cooked while the yolk is still runny.
