A lace bodysuit is a sexy addition to any woman's closet. A bodysuit is a leotard, a top and decorative panty in one. A lace bodysuit can act as a top, worn under a skirt or pair of trousers and doesn't need to be tucked in constantly. French women wear bodysuits underneath their suits, in lieu of a shirt for a hint of sex appeal. The key to a beautiful lace bodysuit is to buy a delicate, thin allover lace. If you have a basic tank and a pair of full coverage panties or boyshorts, you have a pattern for your bodysuit.

- 2yds 1/2-inch elastic

Fold the allover lace in half lengthwise.
Place your tank top, front up on the fabric and pin it to the fabric, through both layers.
Place your pair of panties 1/2-inch directly below the tank top, lining the side seams up, with the front of the panty upwards. Tuck the back of the panty behind the front so that you can't see it and pin the panty to the fabric, through both layers.
Cut around the tank top and panty front , 1/2-inch from the edge through both layers of fabric. You will be cutting one piece only, incorporating the panty and top in one big front piece. You may lower the neckline, but not lower than the bottom of the armhole.

Sew the side seams of the front and back piece together using a sewing machine stretch stitch.
Sew the crotch seam together, right sides together.
Cut a piece of elastic that is 1/2-inch smaller than the circumference of your upper thigh. Sew the elastic ends together using a machine zigzag stitch, overlapping the elastic by 1/2-inch and creating a circle with the elastic.
Sew the elastic to one leg opening , the elastic placed on the right sie of the leg opening, right side up, elastic edge matched up with the fabric edge.
Sew the elastic to the leg opening using the machine zig zag. Turn the elastic and fabric towards the inside of the leotard so that the elastic is completely on the wrong side of the leotard. Sew the folded fabric and elastic to the fabric again, using the zigzag.
Repeat steps 9-11 with the other leg opening.
Hem the necklines and armholes by folding the fabric edge back 1/2-inch and sewing down the folded fabric to the body fabric with the machine zigzag.
