Frown lines are common around the eyes, but also happen around the mouth. They come from the pursing of lips when frowning, as well as smoking. As we age, the proteins in our skin, collagen and elastin, decrease. This causes frown lines to stay long after we stop frowning, but there are products and steps to take to help them go away.
Use facial creams with retinoids such as Retin-A or retinol. Retinoids regenerate skin cells. Avoid using retinoid cream in the morning before you go out. Use it at night because it makes skin more sensitive to sun exposure.
Ask your dermatologist about Botox or dermal fillers like juvederm or restylane. These will temporarily get rid of your of frown lines.
Use anti-wrinkle creams that temporarily fill the outer layers of skin and reduce the appearance of lines.
Avoid sun exposure. If you do have to be out in the sun, wear a sunscreen of SPF 15 at the least.
Stop smoking. Smoking can speed ageing by cause the blood vessels to restrict.
Take vitamin supplements or eat foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamins B, C and E. These are all great for the skin.
Drink a lot of water and avoid caffeine.
Keep your skin moisturised.
