The Reebok company produces both roller and ice skates. According to Pro Hockey Stuff, some skate companies offer heat-activated boots. These mouldable boot models allow you to custom-fit your hockey skates to the unique dimensions of your feet. Skate Log states that many of these mouldable boots feature a carbon fibre construction.

Instructions

  1. 1

Untie and loosen the laces of your Reebok skates. Pull the tongues of the skates as far away from the boots as possible to maximise airflow. Plug in the handheld dryer and set the temperature to high.

  2. 2

Blow the heated air into the left boot of your Reebok skates. Heat one section of the boot at a time. Avoid heating the plastic or Velcro areas of your Reebok boots. Allow each of the mouldable boot sections to heat for 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Put on your skating socks. If you usually apply athletic tape to your ankles, do it at this time. Place your left foot into the heated boot. Tie the laces as tight as possible. Stand up to adjust the position of your foot.

  4. 4

Allow the skates to cool to complete the fitting process. Untie the laces of your left boot and remove the skate from your foot. Repeat the heating and fitting process with the right boot of your Reebok skates.

  1. 1

If you have access to a specialised skate oven, turn the controls to 82.2 degrees Celsius. Turn off the oven once it reaches the designated temperature. Tie the boot laces loosely before placing your skates into the compact oven.

  2. 2

If you are heating a pair of Reebok roller hockey skates, remove the urethane wheels prior to the heating process. Allow the boots to heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove your Reebok skates from the oven.

  3. 3

Put on your skating socks as well as any necessary athletic tape. Insert your feet into the warmed boots. Tie the boot laces tightly. Stand up to adjust the position of your feet. Allow the boots to cool to complete the fitting process.

Tips and warnings

  • Make sure your Reebok skates feature thermo-mouldable boots before attempting the heating process.
  • Attempting to heat your Reebok skates in a conventional oven may damage the components of the boots.
