How to Use a Mic With Virtual DJ

Updated April 17, 2017

Virtual DJ is an audio and video mixing program for amateur and professional DJs. The software is designed to provide DJs with tools to make their mixes faster, cleaner and more accurate while still giving them the maximum degree of control over their music. Virtual DJ accomplishes this with advanced beat matching and cue definition. Virtual DJ records its output to a digital file. DJs who want to add an extra live element to their performances can configure the software to record from their computer's microphone line.

Connect your microphone to your computer using the appropriate connector. Most microphones use either 3.5mm connectors or USB.

Launch Virtual DJ from your computer's "Start" menu.

Click the "Record" tab at the top of the window. Click the "Record Audio" button on the left side of the window. Click the "Config" button.

Select the "Master + MIC" radio button and click "OK." VirtualDJ will now record the output from your microphone into your mix.
