A key fob is a common remote entry device among new motor vehicles, including the Mini Cooper. To activate your key fob you must be within range of the car and understand the button combinations used to perform certain tasks. With this knowledge it is perfectly easy to use your Mini Cooper key fob.
Locate button "1" on your key fob. This is the button on the centre of the key fob, nearest the actual metal body of the key.
Press button "1" four times in quick succession to initialise the key fob for the first time.
Switch the ignition on briefly, then immediately switch it off, before pressing button "1" then button "2" (slightly behind button "1" and to the left) on your fob in quick succession. This is an alternate method of activation from the one laid out in steps 1 and 2.
Ensure there are no obstacles between you and your car that may block the fob signal and interrupt the activation process. Other cars and buildings are good examples.
