The Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and the Internet Explorer Web browser can be used together to create an "Internet Kiosk" configuration, in which users are restricted to Internet access only and cannot access the local network or file system of the computer. Businesses that provide free Internet access as a service and educational institutions that offer Internet-only access at specific campus locations must configure computers in Internet Kiosk mode to ensure that the computers are used only for the intended purpose.
