How to Stop International Phone Calls
International calls carry extra fees. (cell phone image by Mat Hayward from Fotolia.com)

Regular cell phone service plans tend to only include service in the United States. To be able to make and receive international phone calls, you must add an international dialling feature to your plan. This feature can be temporary, and is a popular addition for business people or tourists travelling overseas. Once you return to the United States, you can block international calls by removing the feature from your plan. You will then avoid incurring unwanted fees for the service.

Instructions

  1. 1

Go to your local cell phone service provider's retail location, or call the customer service number on your bill.

  2. 2

Give the customer service representative your cell phone number, name, and any other identifying information required.

  3. 3

Tell the representative that you wish to stop international calling to and from your phone by removing the international dialling feature. The representative should make the change to your plan on the spot. You will no longer be able to make or receive calls to or from other countries.
