How to Remove Audi TT Headlamps

Although it is probably only seldom that people with high-end luxury vehicles opt to perform vehicle maintenance themselves, some jobs are easier than anyone realises. When an Audi TT headlamp requires removal, the task can be completed in a matter of minutes using nothing more than a screwdriver. If you drive an Audi TT, learn how to remove the headlamp yourself and save yourself a trip to the mechanic should the need arise.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Engage the parking brake and turn the Audi's ignition off.

  2. 2

    Open the bonnet and locate the electrical wiring harness at the rear of the headlamp assembly. Loosen the two screws on the electrical wiring harness by turning them counterclockwise with a screwdriver.

    Pull the electrical wiring harness from the headlamp assembly to remove it. Turn the retaining ring counterclockwise and pull it off the headlamp assembly.

    Press the side tabs of the socket to remove the headlamp bulb. Repeat these steps on the headlamp on the opposite side. Reverse these steps to install a new headlamp bulb.

Tips and warnings

  • Always wear latex gloves when handling a headlamp bulb. The oil from your skin can cause the bulb's glass to shatter.
