How to Clean HP 11 Printheads

The HP 11 is an ink cartridge that is available in a variety of ink forms. There are standard inks for everyday use as well as value inks for high-volume printing and speciality inks for photo printing. If you don't use the printhead of your cartridge often, your printhead can get clogged and sabotage your print quality. However, the printer has a way to prevent clogging by cleaning the printhead and unclogging the printhead nozzle.

    Clean the HP 11 printheads from the control panel. Hold the "Power" button and then press the "Resume" button six times. Once you have pressed the button six times, take your finger off the "Power" button.

    Clean the HP 11 printheads from Windows printer driver. Click the "Windows Start" button. Click the "Devices and Printers." Right click on the "HP Office Jet" printer icon. Select "Properties." Click the "Printing preferences" button and then click the "Service" tab. Click "Service This Device" and then click the "Printer Services" tab. Select "Clean Printheads."

    Clean the HP 11 printheads from the Embedded Web Server. Start the Embedded Web Server by typing in the IP address for your printer in the Web browser's address bar. Click the "Settings" tab and then click "Printer Services." Under, "Print Quality," click the drop-down list to select "Clean printheads" and then click "Apply."
