Hand blenders are designed for convenience. Unlike traditional blenders and mixers, hand blenders mix and blend ingredients in any bowl. However, some models come with a mixer/chopper attachment that comes with its own bowl. Most hand blenders are easy to assemble and use. But before you follow these instructions it is important to read your user manual. It contains important warnings and cleaning instructions.

  1. 1

Fill the bowl or grinding/chopping container with the appropriate ingredients. Chop solid ingredients into 1/2-inch pieces first. Do not fill the container more than 3/4 of the way full. As the ingredients mix, they will rise.

  2. 2

Plug in the hand blender. If your hand blender is a cordless model, make sure that it is fully charged according to the manufacturer's instructions. Most models require you to charge the blender overnight before using it for the first time.

  3. 3

Attach the appropriate blending, whisking or processing attachment to the hand blender's body according to the manufacturer's instructions. Most models require you to connect the attachment then turn it clockwise until you hear a click.

  4. 4

Set the hand blender to the appropriate speed (if available on your model).

  5. 5

Submerge the hand blender's blades into the ingredients according to the manufacturer's instructions. Do not submerge the hand blender deeper than 1 inch below the attachment's motor or the hand blender's body if the ingredients are liquid.

  6. 6

Turn on the blender to start the blades according to the manufacturer's instructions. In most models, this is done by pressing and releasing or pressing and holding the power button.

  7. 7

Mix the ingredients. Move the hand blender's blades up and down throughout the mixture without lifting the blades completely out of the mixture.

  8. 8

Turn off the hand blender by releasing the power button or pressing the "off" switch.

  9. 9

Pull the hand blender's attachment out of the ingredients.

  10. 10

Unplug the model if it is corded.

  11. 11

Detach the attachment from the hand blender's body.

  12. 12

Clean the hand blender's attachment and body according to the manufacturer's instructions.
