Late-model BMW vehicles, like the BMW 3 Series and the BMW 7 Series, utilise a similar design for taillights. The bulbs used as brake lights connect to the backside of the tail light assembly in the same manner. You can easily remove the brake-light bulb and replace it with a new one without any tools. The process is straightforward and takes just minutes.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open the boot lid using the boot lever on the driver's-side kick panel or the boot key.

  2. 2

Peel back the carpet from the front edge of the boot on the side of the BMW that has the burnt-out tail light.

  3. 3

Locate the bulb socket for the brake light; it's the middle socket. Turn the socket counterclockwise and pull it away from the tail light housing.

Pull the brake-light bulb out of its socket and push the new bulb into the socket.

  5. 5

Place the socket into the tail light housing and turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
