The Chrysler 300 uses a programmable key system that prevents theft of the vehicle by disabling the ignition when an unauthorised key is used. Each key used in the 300 must be programmed so it will work correctly. If additional keys are obtained for use with the car, the key must be reset in order to be compatible with that specific car. Two valid keys are needed in order to reset a new key. Up to a total of eight keys can be programmed to work with the 300.
