Guitar Rig 3 is an audio software package that allows you to perform custom amplification and sound effect operations on an audio input stream. The Guitar Rig 3 application is designed for use with the Guitar Rig Kontrol 3 audio hardware controller, which allows you to input audio into your computer system via a guitar or any other MIDI-compatible musical instrument. Connecting a guitar to your computer requires you to plug your guitar's output cable into the Rig Kontrol 3 audio interface and to plug the Rig Kontrol 3 interface into your computer using a USB 2.0 cable.

Verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements for use with Guitar Rig 3 and the Rig Kontrol audio interface. Your computer must have a USB 2.0 port for connecting the Rig Kontrol device to your computer. The computer must run Windows XP service pack 2 or a newer version of Windows and must have 512 megabytes of RAM. If your computer has an Intel processor then the computer clock must run at a speed of 1 gigahertz or faster; if your computer features an Athlon processor then you need a clock speed of 1.4 gigahertz or faster.
Insert the Rig Kontrol 3 software CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive. Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the drivers necessary for using Rig Kontrol 3 with your system.
Plug your guitar's output cord into the input jack located on the back of the Rig Kontrol 3 audio controller device.
Plug your USB 2.0 cable into the USB output jack located on the back of the Rig Kontrol 3 device. Plug the other end of the USB 2.0 cable into your computer's USB 2.0 port.
