How to Set Up Remote Access for the Iomega Home Media Network Drive

The Iomega Home Media Network Drive is a device that can be connected to a home network to store files. It has its own built-in operating platform with an FTP server, torrent client and iTunes media server. You can control the device remotely using the Home Storage Manager software included with the device on a CD. You must configure the device to support remote access using a user name and password.

    Install the Home Storage Manager by inserting the CD included with the drive into your computer's optical bay. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan for and access the device.

    Click the Iomega Home Storage Manager's icon in your system tray, then click "Configure."

    Click "Administration."

    Click "Log In" if you have not yet created an administrative password. If you have, enter your password and click "Log In."

    Click "Remote Access."

    Enter a new Remote Access password, if one has not been set, when prompted.

    Enter a name for your device next to "Storage Device Name."

    Enter a network identifier for the Iomega device in the "Domain Name" field.

    Enter your e-mail address in the "Email Address" field.

    Click "Apply." The device has now been configured for remote access.
