When your MP160 stops printing due to low ink levels or empty cartridges, the only way to reset the ink system is to replace the cartridges. The MP160 printer uses PG-40 black and CL-41 colour printer cartridges. Buy replacement cartridges from office supply and computer parts retailers, or order them direct from Canon. Replace the cartridges at home and you can be printing again in minutes.

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn on your PIXMA MP160 printer. Raise the scanner bed to access the ink carrier.

  2. 2

Push down on the empty cartridge to release the cartridge from the carrier. Lift the cartridge out of the printer. The black cartridge is located to the left and the colour cartridge is located to the right in the carrier.

  3. 3

Remove the protective tape from the bottom of the replacement cartridge. Insert the cartridge into the carrier. Push the cartridge toward the back of the carrier until it clicks. Lower the printer cover and scanner bed.
