If you become tired of your permed hair, regret your decision or just want a change you might need to unperm your hair. Unperming your hair requires several days of washing and oiling, but remove the perm the right way will save your hair.
Wash the hair thoroughly with a straightening shampoo and conditioner. If the hair was permed within 72 hours wash the hair a few times with straightening shampoo and conditioner to straighten the hair and remove the perm chemical. If it was longer than 72 hours prior you will need to continue the following steps.
Apply hot massage oil into your hair. Brush the hot oil through your hair so it reaches all of the hair folicles. The hot oil helps relax curls. Rinse out the hot oil.
Wait a few days for the hot oil to completely rinse clean of the scalp and hair. Ask a friend to assist you and comb chemical straightener through your hair. Use a large-toothed comb and comb the chemical straightener through your hair until it relaxes completely.
Rinse and then wash your hair with straightening shampoo. Use a flat iron to fix any remaining problem areas.
