Changing your number on Caller I.D. allows you to prevent the person you're calling from knowing who you are. Providers like Telespoof, Covert Calling and Bluff My Call allow you to change your number on Caller I.D. using a free trial. The cost for unlimited use on these services varies, and free calls have both a time limit and a limit to the number of free calls you can make.

    Telespoof

    Click the "Free call" option on the "Telespoof" home page.

    Enter the required information on the "Make a free Telespoof Call" page. This includes your number, the number you wish to call and the number you would like displayed.

    Answer the call you receive from Telespoof. You will be immediately connected to the person you wish to call.

    Covert Calling

    Click "Try now" on the "Covert Calling" home page.

    Enter the required information on the "Free call" screen and click "Call."

    Answer your phone call from "Covert calling" and you will be connected to your call's recipient. Your number will be altered. Your free call has a one-minute limit and you can only make three free calls.

    Bluff My Call

    Dial the access number from your home or mobile phone. You will have to listen to an advertisement, after which your call will be connected. Your free call has a two-minute limit.
