The HP Laserjet 2840 is an all-in-one printer. It has a flatbed scanner, fax machine and copier integrated into the unit. The printer has a usage function that counts all of the prints, faxes and copies. You can access the usage count from the HP Toolbox function. In order to clear the usage count, you must go into the printer's memory, clear the memory and restore the factory settings. During this procedure, you will lose any project in process.

    Open the HP Toolbox and click "Device Settings."

    Scroll down and click on "Service."

    Under the "Reset" heading, click on "Restore." A dialogue box will open, asking permission to erase current memory and restore the factory settings.

    Click "OK" to restore the factory settings. A second dialogue box will pop up confirming permission to take you back to the HP Toolbox window.

    Exit the HP Toolbox program.

Tips and warnings

  • This procedure will erase all data, including fax logs and phone numbers.
