How to Get Rid of an HP Drive Lock

HP offers its DriveLock protection for computers to maximise security features. DriveLock will prevent a drive from being tampered with. Yet you may wish to turn off DriveLock for any number of reasons to allow access to your drive. Luckily, you can remove DriveLock protection by following a simple procedure.

    Turn on your computer. Press "F10" during boot to open the proper menu.

    Use your arrow keys to open the "Security" menu. Click "DriveLock Passwords." Press "Enter."

    Use your arrow keys to choose the location of your hard drive. Press "F10." Change the protection field to "Disable." Press "F10." Type in your password and press "F10." Go to "File" and click "Save Changes and Exit."
