How to Reset an HP 920 Ink Cartridge

Updated March 23, 2017

Several HP printers use the 920 ink cartridge. These cartridges are available in colour or black ink. Colour cartridges allow for up to 300 pages and black cartridges will print up to 420 pages. Sometimes after putting a new HP 920 ink cartridge into your printer, the printer does not recognise that the cartridge is now full. In order for the printer to recognise the cartridge and print a test page or other documents, you must reset the printer.

Remove and replace the new HP 920 ink cartridge. Occasionally this will reset the cartridge information in the printer without having to reset the entire printer.

Turn the printer off using the power button.

Remove the power cord from the back of the printer. Leave the cord disconnected for at least five seconds.

Reconnect the power cord to the printer.

Turn the printer on using the power button.

The HP 920 ink cartridge is intended for use in several models of HP Deskjet all-in-one printers.
