The Garmin Course, or TCX, file type can only be used with Garmin devices. If you have purchased a new device or want to share your tracks, you have to convert the file to the more universal GPX format if you want to use it on other devices. The GPX format is also the standard container for routes, tracks and waypoints on many popular GPS websites since it is near universally recognised by GPS devices.
