Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 can be used not only to create slideshow presentations in a projector but also to create handouts of the presentation. When working with a handout, you may want to add page numbers or change the current page numbers. Make sure that you know the appropriate process so that you're not left floundering for the correct steps.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Open the saved PowerPoint 2007 handout by clicking on the appropriate icon. Alternatively, you can open Microsoft PowerPoint by double-clicking the icon on the desktop or finding it under the "Start" button menu. Click the Microsoft Office button and choose "Open." Navigate to the project and open it.

  2. 2

Select the "View" tab. Choose "Normal" from under the "Presentation Views" group. When the view changes, click on the first slide. Go to the "Insert" tab and choose "Slide Number" from under the "Text" Group.

  3. 3

Ensure you are under the "Header and Footer" option in the new popup box. Select the "Notes and Handout" tab and click on the "Page Number" box. You can add a page number to all slides by selecting "Apply to All."

  4. 4

Save the presentation by clicking on the Microsoft Office button. Choose "Save As" and choose the appropriate format. You may also print the brochure by choosing "Print" from under the Microsoft Office button.

Tips and warnings

  • To change the page number on a particular slide, rearrange the number by clicking on it and dragging it to the appropriate spot. If the page number does not change after you move the slide, follow the process to un-check the "Slide Number" box and then recheck it.
