The Samsung SCX-4200 printer/scanner/copier/fax combines the functionality of all four machines into one unit, helping users save both money and desk space. One downside of this all-in-one approach, however, is that when the toner runs low, both your printouts and your copies are affected. It is therefore critical for anyone who uses the SCX-4200 to know how to spot the signs of depleted toner and how to replace the toner when necessary.

Instructions

  1. 1

Watch the printouts for signs of low toner, including faded spots and light print. Purchase a new toner cartridge when you notice any of these symptoms. The front panel of the Samsung SCX-4200 will also show a "Toner out" message when the toner needs to be replaced.

  2. 2

Grasp the handle on the front of the machine, and open the front door. Pull the toner cartridge out, and set it aside for recycling.

  3. 3

Remove the new toner cartridge from its packaging and rock it back and forth several times to distribute the toner powder evenly. Remove the protective paper from the toner, and slide it into the printer. The grooves on each side of the printer will guide the toner to its proper position.

  4. 4

Close the front cover after the toner is in place. Send a test page to the printer.
