Customise your computer and make Google your homepage

Making Google your homepage is a relatively simple task with the same steps whether you run a PC or a Mac. The browser you use dictates the exact process you should follow, but none of the popular browsers on the market today present any particular problems.

Open your Google Chrome browser and left click with your mouse on the icon of a spanner. This is at the top right of your browser and will bring up a list of options.

Left click with your mouse on "options." This will bring up a small window. Left click with your mouse on the "Basics" tab, or button.

Left click with your mouse on the circle to the left of "Open this page" in the "Home page" section. There should now be a black dot in the circle.

Type, "http://www.google.co.uk" into the rectangular text box to the right of "Open this page."

Close the window by left clicking with your mouse on "close" at the bottom of the window (See References 2)
Google Chrome

Open your Firefox browser and left click with your mouse on the "tools" tab, or button. This at the top of your browser and will bring up a list of options.

Left click with your mouse on "options." This will bring up a small window. Left click with your mouse on the "General" tab, or button.

Select "Show my home page" from the drop-down menu in the "Startup" section.

Type "http://www.google.co.uk" into the rectangular text box to the right of "Home Page."

Close the window by left clicking with your mouse on "OK" at the bottom of the window. (See References 2)
Mozilla Firefox

Open your Internet Explorer browser and left click the "tools" tab, or button. This is at the top of your browser and will bring up a list of options.

Left click on "preferences." This will bring up a small window. Type "http://www.google.co.uk" into the rectangular text box in the "Home page" section.

Close the window by left clicking with your mouse on "OK" at the bottom of the window. (See References 2)
Internet Explorer

Open your Safari Browser and left click with your mouse on the icon of a cog. This is at the top right of your browser and will bring up a list of options.

Left click with your mouse on "Preferences." This will bring up a small window. Left click with your mouse on the "General" tab, or button.

Select "Home Page" from the drop down menu in the "New windows open with" section.

Type "http://www.google.co.uk" in the rectangular text box to the right of "Home Page."
