Windows Script Host is an engine that allows scripts written in certain languages such as Visual Basic to run on a Windows-based computer. Since the Windows 98 era, all Windows-based computers have had the Windows Script Host installed by default, and all computers running Windows Vista and Windows 7 have Windows Script Host 5.8, the latest version as of 2010, installed. However, If you are running a computer with Windows XP or a previous version of Windows, you may need to update Windows Script Host on your computer if you want the latest version available for your operating system. Microsoft makes the Windows Script Host update available free.
