Most BMW vehicles are equipped with an oil life monitoring system that alerts the driver when it determines it is time for the oil to be changed. After the oil change service has been completed, the oil service reminder needs to be reset so the computer can accurately track the correct interval until the next oil change. Most BMW dealers will reset the system if they change the oil. If you change the oil yourself, you can manually reset the oil reminder system.
