Instructions for a White Rodgers Thermostat

Updated April 17, 2017

The White Rodgers company makes heating and cooling components that help control the climate in your home during the warm summer months and the cold winter months regardless of where your home is located. By installing a White Rodgers thermostat in your home with your heating and cooling system, accurately change the settings on your system to reach a desired temperature. By following the instructions to program your White Rodgers thermostat, set the device to turn on your system at a certain time during the day and reach a predetermined temperature, even when you aren't at home.

Move the system switch to either "Heat" or "Cool" depending on the mode you want to turn on and the time of year. By programming in this mode, the White Rodgers thermostat will turn on the heating or cooling at the appropriate time.

Press the "PRGM" button once. The currently programmed information will be displayed on your screen. Press the "Up" and "Down" arrows on the face of the thermostat to change the desired temperature that you want to program into the device.

Press the "Time" button on the thermostat once you have selected the appropriate temperature. The time on your display will begin to flash. Press the "Up" and "Down" arrows to adjust to the time that you want the system to turn on. Press "Time" again to save your settings.

Press the "PRGM" button again. This will start the programming for a second time you want the system to turn on. Press the "Up" and "Down" arrows to adjust the temperature, then press the "Time" button again and adjust the time with the arrow keys. Press "Time" when finished to save the time.

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to program the third and fourth time periods. When you have selected the time and temperature for these periods, press the "PRGM" button to save the settings for the weekday programming. You will now enter Saturday programming mode.

Repeat Step 3 through Step 5 to program the time periods for Saturday. When finished, press the "PRGM" button to move to Sunday programming. Repeat the programming procedure to program the thermostat for Sunday. When finished with Sunday, press the "Run" button to save your settings and begin running the programmed heating and cooling schedule.
