How to Change the Head on an Oral-B Brush

Updated February 21, 2017

The Oral-B company makes a variety of electric toothbrushes. It is important to change the head of the toothbrush periodically because of normal wear and tear on the brush. Although this time period can vary according to how often you brush, the standard life of a toothbrush head is about three or four months. You might need to replace the head sooner, however, if you become sick or if the bristles are frayed. Oral-B offers replacement heads that can be installed quickly and easily.

Grasp the old toothbrush head by the end with the bristles and pull it to remove it from the body of the toothbrush.

Remove the rubber ring around the base of the toothbrush head if necessary. Oral-B offers these rings in various colours to help you distinguish between different people's brush heads. You can place the same ring on a new head. You also can place a new ring on the new head, or you can opt to use no ring at all.

Position the new toothbrush head over the metal extension at the end of the toothbrush body and push it downward onto the metal to snap it into place.

Press the "On" button on the toothbrush, and look at the head to make sure that the bristles are moving, which indicates correct installation.
