If you are looking for a style that is natural and versatile, kinky twist braids may be the hair style for you. Singers Jill Scott and Heather Headley have both rocked this look. Whether you prefer long or short twists, this 'do requires very little maintenance. Some people like to keep their twists straight. However, adding curl to the kinky twists makes the style even more beautiful. Save money by curling your kinky twists at home instead of at the salon.

Instructions

  1. 1

Select the portion of hair you want to curl.

  2. 2

Wrap the hair around a curl rod. Use thinner rods for tighter curls and thicker rods for a looser wave.

  3. 3

Secure the end of the rod with the fastener or clip that came with the rod.

  4. 4

Dip the rod into hot water (70 to 80 degrees Celsius), and allow it to stay there for 15 seconds.

  5. 5

Remove the rod from the water, gently towel dry your hair, and allow your hair to cool to room temperature.

  6. 6

Unfasten the rod, and remove your hair from it.

Tips and warnings

  • Warm the water in your microwave or on your stove. Water from your faucet may not be hot enough.
  • Handle hot water carefully to avoid getting burnt.
