How to Play RTSP Streams

Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is a protocol for applications to control data in real time. RTSP streams allow viewers to see live audio and/or video in real time. You can use the free programs VLC Media Player, Winamp and QuickTime to view RTSP streams.

Download VLC Media Player (see Resources).

Install and open VLC Media Player.

Click "Media," then click "Open Network Stream."

Type or copy and paste the address of the RTSP stream you want to view and click "Play."

Download Winamp (see Resources).

Install and run Winamp.

Open the Winamp menu by clicking the button in the top left corner of the program.

Highlight "Play" and click "Url."

Type in the address of the RTSP stream and click "Open."

Download QuickTime (see Resources).

Install and run QuickTime.

Click "File" and "Open Url."

Type the address of the RTSP stream you want to play and click "OK."
