You can replace the alternator on a Cadillac DeVille in about an hour. Occasionally, the alternator---located just below the battery---will wear out from usage and require replacement to allow the battery to charge. The Cadillac DeVille uses a Northstar engine with a serpentine belt that runs several parts at the same time, including the alternator.
