How to Reset the 2006 Toyota Avalon Maintenance Required Light

Updated February 21, 2017

The 2006 Toyota Avalon uses a maintenance reminder system that alerts the driver when it is time for regular maintenance to be done. When the computer determines that service is due, the message is illuminated on the control panel until it is reset. A Toyota dealer will reset the service reminder light when they do scheduled maintenance. If you maintain your Avalon yourself, you should manually reset the maintenance required light so it can accurately determine when the next service is due.

Turn the ignition switch to "ON" without starting the engine.

Press the trip odometer knob repeatedly until the total mileage is displayed on the odometer.

Turn the ignition switch off.

Press and hold the trip odometer knob. Turn the ignition switch to "ON."

Release the trip odometer knob when "000000" appears in the odometer display. The maintenance required light resets.
