A part number is a part identifier. With it, you can select the correct replacement part for your HP equipment. Although you can find the part number on a part, HP recognises that you may not always have access to the part or part number. As a result, HP offers users the HP PartSurfer part search tool. The PartSurfer can search for a part by HP product information such as the product name, model or serial number. Once you find the correct part, you can then match the part to its correct part number.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

  1. 1

Look on your HP equipment for a product service tag. The tag features an alphanumeric serial number (following "s/n:") and a product number (following "p/n:").

  2. 2

Enter the serial or product number into the Search field on the HP PartSurfer website (see Resources). Select a country from the "Select a country or region" drop-down menu.

  3. 3

Click the "Right Arrows (>>)" button to bring up a list of products and product numbers and then click an alphanumeric product number link to open a list of parts and part numbers. Match the part description to your part. Look to the left of the description in the "Part Number" column for the corresponding part number.

Tips and warnings

  • If you still can't find your part number or it appears that more than one part number may match, contact HP at 800-227-8164 for additional assistance with identifying your part.
