Whether you have a laptop or a desktop computer, you can install a wireless nanny cam to your computer with the proper webcam and software. You can purchase webcams at electronic stores as well as online, and installing the camera itself is quick and automated, and it requires little to no technical skills. 1. 1

Purchase a wireless webcam or "Nanny Cam" online or at your local electronic store. You can also purchase specifically made "Nanny Cams" online (see Resources below). The wireless camera should come with computer software, which will ease the set-up on your computer. If the wireless camera does not come with software, it will require a manual set-up and is more than likely for personal use.

  2. 2

Assemble the wireless camera according to its instructions and verify it works in the location you desire. Install the wireless camera software to your computer's hard drive to install the camera's hardware as well as the software, which will allow you to view and record on your new wireless camera.

  3. 3

Refer to your wireless camera's user manual to reference issues and troubleshooting, since each wireless camera will vary in operation. Once you have installed your software, open the program to begin setting up your nanny cam recordings. Some wireless cameras come with a USB device, which is easily plugged into your computer to load your live camera feed as well as recording settings. If you have a USB device rather than software, simply plug in the USB device to your computer and follow the prompted instructions. Your wireless camera feed will also appear for viewing with certain camera models.
