How to Use Shaving Cream to Clean a Carpet

Carpet stains can occur in just a moment, but they can ruin the look of the floor covering for a long time if you don't know how to remove the blemishes. Fortunately, you don't have to spend a lot of money on expensive cleaning products. You can clean most carpet stains quickly and easily with a simple, inexpensive item that you may already have right at home: shaving cream.

  • Foam shaving cream
  • Rags
  • Vinegar
  • Water

    Cover the stain with foam shaving cream. Leave the foam on the stain for about 30 minutes.

    Blot the shaving cream and stain with a clean, light-coloured rag.

  3. 3

    Dip another rag into a solution of one part water and one part white vinegar.

  4. 4

    Blot the area again using the rag that you dampened with the vinegar-and-water solution.

  5. 5

    Dab the area once more with a dry rag to help draw out any remaining moisture.
