The Dell E5400 laptop computer runs on the Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 operating system from Microsoft. This model of laptop computer is capable of using a Bluetooth connection through the integrated Bluetooth adaptor. This allows you to use a wireless keyboard and mouse with the computer. However, to make this feature work, a software driver will need to be installed on the machine.
Go to the Dell support website. Click the "Start Here" button under the section for Support for Home Users.
Click the option for "Drivers and Downloads." Click the "Change Your Product" link if you are taken to a previously viewed product page.
Click the "Select Model" button. Select "Laptop" in the column for Select Your Product Family. Select "Latitude" from the Select Your Product Line column. Scroll through the list and select "E5400."
Click the "Confirm" button to continue.
Click the drop-down selection box for "Operating System." Select your operating system from the list.
Click the drop-down selection box for "Category." Select the option for "Mouse and Keyboards."
Click the "Download" button to the right of the option for the "Dell -- Application, Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Bundle."
Click a "Download" button to save the set-up file to your desktop. Double-click the "R1743666.zip" file to view its contents.
Double-click the "Setup.exe" file to install the software update. Restart the computer after the software has been installed.
If you see a Bluetooth icon in the system tray, the Bluetooth driver has been installed successfully.
