The HP Compaq 6910p is a notebook computer available in configurations including either Windows Vista or Windows XP. Both of these operating systems have a background process enabling the support of "smart cards," electronic memory cards that some businesses use to manage computer security. If this service is enabled, it runs automatically, even if the computer has no smart card reader installed. By disabling this process on your HP Compaq 6910p, you can free up a small amount of RAM and potentially decrease the amount of time needed for the computer to start up.
