How to Connect a Lexmark X4650 Without Cords

Updated July 20, 2017

Some Lexmark printers, including the X4650 model, are equipped with a wireless print server that allows a user to print pages without connecting the printer to a computer using cables. The computer can communicate with the printer over a wireless network set up at a home or an office. This provides users more flexibility to place the printer at a suitable location and access it from anywhere.

Press the "Power" button on the printer to turn it on.

Insert the printer software installation CD in the CD-ROM drive of the computer and click the "Run Setup" button when prompted on the computer screen.

Click the "Wireless Setup" button and select the option labelled "Assign IP address automatically." Click the "OK" button.

Click the "Connect to" button and highlight your wireless network name from the list. Click the "Continue" button.

Enter your wireless network key in the text box labelled as "Network Key." Leave the field blank if you do not have a network key. Click the "Continue" button to complete the printer's wireless set-up.

Click the "Install Drivers" button to configure the printer on the computer. Click the "Finish" button at the end of installation. This will connect the computer to the printer over the wireless network.
