How to play zipped karaoke cdg files with winamp

Updated July 20, 2017

With the CDG Plug-in for Winamp you can turn your computer into a full-fledged karaoke machine. CDG files contain audio files that are accompanied with lyrics and require a specific codec or plug-in for proper playback with your media player. Install the CDG plug-in to begin viewing the lyrics of a song that are in sync with the audio track. Without the plug-in you can listen to the audio from the files but the lyrics will not appear on your screen.

Launch a Web browser and visit the Winamp Plug-In page (See "Resources").

Click the "Download" link.

Click the "Open" or "Run" button in the "Internet Security" dialogue window that opens to install the plug-in to your Winamp media player.

Open the folder that stores the CDG files and drag them into the Winamp Media Player interface. Double click a CDG file to play it.
