Mini kegs are an economical, convenient way to enjoy beer from a keg when you don't need a large amount. Most mini kegs hold about five litres of beer, some are reusable and most are sized to fit inside your home refrigerator. While some come fitted with a dispenser requires no preparation, others must be tapped like you would a larger sized keg. Knowing how to tap a mini keg will help you decide which type is best suited for your needs.

- Tap kit
Assemble the tap for your mini keg. The large cone-shaped piece is your tap base. The smallest part in your tap kit fits into the notch on the cone base. Fit the head of the tap into the cone directly above the small part you fit into the notch on the cone.
Connect the small and large tubes by fitting the small into the large on the end of the large that is not bent. The free end of the small tube should be connected to the head of the tap you assembled. Fit the knob into the base at the head of the tap.
Hold the keg with one hand and grab the plastic cap with your other hand and twist the cap off.
Locate the plastic ring from your tap kit. Attach that ring to the top of your keg. Attach your assembled tap to the centre of that ring. The pieces should snap into place.
