How to Wire a Bose Acoustimass 15
Bose Acoustimass speakers are small and work well with compact home theatre systems. (home theatre with big flat television panel image by Pavel Losevsky from

For people who seek a home theatre system that doesn't require a lot of space and still gives powerful sound, the Bose Acoustimass 15 is an option. The Acoustimass 15 delivers deep, powerful bass and acts as a crossover to send middle and high frequencies to Bose's small cube speakers. This allows the system to fit and function in most any room. Thanks to a combination of RCA jacks and a 15-pin connection, setting up the Acoustimass 15 can be done in a few steps.

  1. 1

Place the speaker cubes in a set-up that will work best in your room. Ideally, the front left and right speakers will be six to 15 feet apart and form a triangle for the listener. The centre speaker should be centred under or over the TV. Place the rear speakers to the sides and slightly behind the listener.

  2. 2

Place the Acoustimass module on the left of the TV, about 2 feet away, and outside the front left speaker. The module should be placed so that its feet are on the floor and bass port is aimed at a side wall. Do not place it with the port facing up.

  3. 3

Take the speaker wires and match the labels on the RCA connectors to each input on the module. They will be labelled L, R, C, RR and RL. Plug the RCA connectors into the appropriate jacks.

  4. 4

Run the other end of the speaker cables to each speaker (left, right, centre, rear left and rear right). Attach the speakers to the wires by pushing down on the plastic switch above the speaker input on the cube, then inserting the red wire into the red notch and the black wire into the black notch. Let go of the switch to secure the wire.

  5. 5

Connect the system cable to the module by using a screwdriver to screw the holding screws into the sockets.

  6. 6

Take the other end of the system connector and find the wires labelled for each speaker. The RCA plug is for the LFE output jack on the receiver.

  7. 7

Plug the RCA cable into the LFE jack, and plug the L, R, C, RR, and LR wires into the speaker outputs for each speaker on the back of the receiver.

Tips and warnings

  • Make sure the receiver and the Acoustimass Module are both turned off when making the connections, or your could short out the system.
